Dynamic Data Done Quick?

I just stumbled upon something VERY interesting! Microsoft released something called "Asp.Net Dynamic Data Entities Web Application". At first I thought it looked suspect, I didn't get it at all at first. It is a completely different thinking. I suppose it's not really applicable for any major project yet though it probably will be. As you might have guessed from the Dynamic part of the title of the project thats what it aims to do for you.

The key here is developement speed. My guess is that when I learn this beauty well enough I will be spitting out projects I want to do. Ok I admit Dynamic Data Web Applications could take away all the nice abstractions you have in your current projects if you let it but it doesnt have to!

You could still have all your layers (tiers) but whats the use? Seriously they pretty much thought of everything. You get validation a'la EntLib. You don't have to write ANY database queries at all + it's all yours to customize.

The scaffolding tables is mostly useful regarding 2 things.
  1. It let's you get going very quickly
  2. You could create (hmm actually you aint creating anything at all it's done for you) a simple admin section based on this
Of course you could scaffold your site and just customize the sections you want to but what's the fun in that? :)

Further it fully supports all the previous ways of doing websites and all you have to do is think METADATA!

Have fun coding at the speed of light!

PS. Did you know there is a new DataSource called the EntityDataSource? Use it, abuse it, get used to it!
